Air Canada's Welcome Aboard pass, available until January 3, 2007, looks like a very economical way to fly if your schedule is flexible.

This particular offer has expired, although Air Canada Flight Passes may still be available. For more travel deals, check out Budget Travel, one of 20 great topics in the Outdoor & Adventure Section of Suite101.com.

Air Canada is offering unlimited flight passes. You pay a flat fee and fly as much as you like during the period of your pass.

Looking at Air Canada's website, it was initially difficult to get the pass information the researcher was looking for. To learn about the passes, the researcher clicked "Special Deals" and then - even though the search was not specifically for London passes - clicked the red telephone box picture for the London Pass. It was the only mention of a pass obvious and visible at first glance.

Once on the London Pass page, there was a menu of other passes on the left hand side, including Canada, USA, North America. There's even something called the Oil Express which will fly you from Grande Prairie or Fort McMurray (both in Alberta, Canada) to sun destinations or elsewhere in Canada.

The Oil Express and the London Pass are not unlimited. For a set fee, you get 10 or 6 flight credits, which you cash in to pay for trips as you use them.

Air Canada had sent a promotion to its email list subscribers. The email was about a pass which was not found on the website today. It's a Welcome Aboard pass.

This looked like a much better deal than the other passes. It was only on sale until January 3rd and had some fairly restrictive conditions (you could only fly on certain days of the week), but if you can be flexible it's definitely worth a look.

Example: To fly between Calgary and Toronto, one would want a Cross Canada pass. The cheapest is the 2-day, meaning you can only fly on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The pass is good for flights between January 9 and March 6, 2007. Cost: $329 per month, with a 2-month commitment, i.e. $658 Canadian dollars. The usual taxes apply (and these can be significant).

This is an excellent deal - provided there will be seats available to take advantage of it.

The deal on the Welcome Aboard pass ended on January 3rd, 2007. The other passes (and there are quite a few of them) look like ongoing offers.
