Quebec-based Webbytalents is the first video-sharing site designed by and for the disabled, providing opportunities for artistic expression and professional growth.
Launched in February 2008, Webbytalents is an online community designed to unite persons with disabilities through the posting, sharing, and discussion of personal videos. Any persons, organizations, or filmmakers are invited to submit videos. Webbytalents is an entertainment distributor that encourages the discovery and development of talent and seeks to establish contact between amateur and professional video artists and the general public. The site provides a complete set of features that allow users to highlight their universe, works, and tastes. The interactive services (chat, forum, blog, email, search engine) promote discussion between people with similar affinities. Webbytalents is a host, not a publisher; it doesn’t censor videos that people upload, but is obligated to remove videos that violate copyright laws. Once registered, a user can post or record videos and write online reviews. Posted videos are organized by category, keyword, and group. Registered users can create new groups.
