It's a common experience for Canadians to pick up a guidebook for "Canada" and find that your home region is reduced to one or two hot spots, the major ciites, and often little else.
The Moon Handbooks - Alberta book was a nice change. It arrived at the best time for me. In the past three months I've been to Edmonton, Red Deer, Kananaskis, Canmore, Banff, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Wainwright, plus an unplanned detour from Hardisty to Stettler by tow truck after my car broke down just south of Irma.
I was impressed by the way the guidebook described the many faces of Alberta. It's a beautiful province, all of it. Even without the Rockies - undoubtedly grand, I agree - Alberta is still a marvellous place to visit and to live.
