Slowly a few scholarly journal articles are appearing like those in Vol. 2 No. 2 of the Review of Disability Studies or No. 126 of the Study of Current Rehabilitation. Some quality travel guides like Candy Harrington's "There is Room at the Inn" and Bonnie Lewkowicz's "A Wheelchair Rider's Guide" are making an impact. Hopefully the big name travel guide series will start to include information on destination accessibiity.

Welcome, Scott, and thanks so much for your comment.
I hope all readers know that Scott Rains is my predecessor here at Suite101.com. His own website is very rich in ideas, resources, links and advocacy.
In addition to the travel guides Scott mentioned, I would repeat one I've mentioned earlier, Rick Steves' Easy Access Europe.
It would be CRAZY for travel operators and guide writers to ignore the need for accessible travel options. Simple demographics show us that slow walkers, wheelchair users, and people with a wide variety of special needs are going to be the majority as the travelling population ages.
Thanks for the information, Scott, great to see you here.
