As an unwilling (company policy) passenger on United and a Muslim, it has come to my attention that United figures that all Mulsims are South Asian. The standard MOML package, in both Economy and Business, looks a lot like a Hindu Vegetarian meal - crappy rice, curried vegetables, etc. Many of the standard offerings (Grilled Salmon with buttered French beans) would be completely acceptable, but instead I am given a box of curried crap, with a very suspicious look from the ancient and tenured 'cabin crew'. Not being South Asian (I'm a white Mulsim), I wouldn't mind a steak once in awhile...

Out of curiousity, have you taken this up with United, either on site or afterward?

I bet a lot of people here would be interested in their response. Who knows, maybe they will let you be their Muslim menu advisor ;-)

BTW, is this happening on flights originating only in the US, or at other places as well? I'm assuming you're flying from US but perhaps that is not the case.
